In a remarkable achievement, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by ten wickets in the high-voltage first Test match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Chasing a meagre target of 30 runs, Bangladesh achieved it without breaking a sweat, registering a historic victory over the hosts.

Zakir Hasan hit the winning runs for Bangladesh, sweeping Agha Salman for a glorious boundary through the square leg.

The incident occurred during the seventh over of Bangladesh's second innings when they were on the verge of a remarkable victory after bowling Pakistan out for 146 runs in the second innings.

The Bangladesh openers came out with a positive intent, as they looked to score runs right from the word go. As the target was only 30, Pakistan captain Shan Masood decided not to exhaust his pacers, giving the ball to off-spinner Agha Salman instead.

The batting all-rounder came around the wicket for Zakir, bowling a full-length ball around his pads. The southpaw went down on one knee to play a gorgeous sweep shot, as the ball slowly rolled towards the fence for a boundary.

As soon as Zakir scored the winning runs, Bangladesh players celebrated jubilantly in the dressing room. Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who recorded a clinical three-fer in the second innings, was seen clapping with joy.

Bangladesh go 1-0 up in the series

With this convincing win, Bangladesh gained an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Up next, both teams will once again meet in the decider at the same venue on August 30.
