The ICC on Monday (August 26) confirmed Shakib Al Hasan has been punished due to his inappropriate behaviour during the first Bangladesh versus Pakistan Test, which took place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Shakib was 'fined 10% of his match fee and a demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct', the ICC announced in a statement. The ICC statement read:

Shakib was penalised in accordance with Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment such as a water bottle) at or near a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other third person in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an International Match.”

During the second Pakistan innings in Rawalpindi, Shakib threw the ball at Mohammad Rizwan in anger. On-field umpire Richard Kettleborough immediately warned the star Bangladesh all-rounder, and the consequences came later on.

Pakistan, Bangladesh Lose WTC Points

In another news, Pakistan and Bangladesh have both lost WTC points due to their slow over rate issues. While Pakistan were fined 30% of their match fee and lost six WTC points after falling six overs short, Bangladesh were punished with a 15% match fee loss and three WTC points due to their three-over-short doings.
