'Once The Emotion Settles, Pat Cummins Will ...': Stuart Broad on Jonny Bairstow's Controversial Run-Out

Jonny Bairstow's controversial run-out on Day 5 of the Lord's Tests shows no signs of stopping, with England and Australia's Prime Ministers' also jumping on the bandwagon.  England's Bairstow was smartly run-out by Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey on the final day of the second Ashes 2023, where the former strolled out of the crease after ducking a Cameron Green bouncer.

Writing on the same, Three Lions pacer Stuart Board has mentioned that Australian skipper Pat Cummins will regret his handling of the run-out fiasco. Cummins backed actions of Carey and said that it falls within the rule of the games.

In his article for Daily Mail, Broad mentioned that he found it surprising that no senior Australian players questioned the run-out call and that once the dust settles down, Cummins will come to his wrong.

Here's what Broad wrote

"What amazed me, and what I told the Australians I could not believe as we left the field at lunch, was that not one senior player among them - and I very much understand in the emotion of the game that the bowler and wicketkeeper would have thought 'that's out' - questioned what they had done.

"Especially given what their team has been through over recent years, with all their cultural change. Not one of them said 'Hang on, lads. I'm not really sure about this'. Ultimately, Pat Cummins is a really great guy and I would be amazed, once the emotion settles, if he does not sit back and think 'I got that one wrong'."

The 37-year-old further wrote about telling Cummins several times about how all the boos in the crowd were for him and his decision.

Meanwhile, Australia currently led the Ashes 2023 series 2-0, winning both the Edgbaston and Lord's Test, respectively. The third Test will be played on July 6 at Leeds.
