'I do not look too far ahead': Headingley Test only focus for James Anderson

Star England pacer James Anderson spoke on his ongoing form in the Ashes 2023 while emphasising that his full attention is only on the upcoming do-or-die Headingley Test for The Three Lions.

2-0 down in the series, England have been largely hit by Anderson's lean patch that he believes could not have come at a worse time than this.

The 40-year-old has claimed only three scalps in the two recently-concluded games and has not taken more than a wicket in any of the innings so far in the ongoing Ashes.

"I am not thinking about the future. The future for me is just thinking about Thursday and the start of the next Test. That is as far ahead as I will look. I have said it before, even when doing well, that I do not look too far ahead," Anderson wrote in his column for The Telegraph.

While admitting to having horrible last two games as a bowler, Anderson thinks that he is not bowling too badly and that his performance has not to do with his age.

"I will be honest. You want to contribute in the big series and I cannot remember having two such quiet games in a row for at least the past 10 years. But I do not think I am bowling particularly badly; I am just going through a lean patch, which you do not want to happen in an Ashes.

The third Test of the controversy-laden Ashes will begin on July 6 at Headingley, Leeds.
