England and UP Warriorz batter Danielle Wyatt disclosed that the bat gifted to her by talismanic Indian cricketer Virat Kohli didn't live up to her expectations, leading her to use it only twice.

Wyatt garnered attention in 2014 when she sarcastically proposed to Kohli on Twitter after being impressed by his performance against South Africa in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2014 in Bangladesh.

In that match, the chase master played a special innings to guide his team to the final. That innings mesmerized Wyatt and she couldn't resist and asked Kohli to marry her through a tweet. Her tweet, "Kohli marry me!!!," sparked conversation among cricket fans.

Months later, during India's tour of England in 2014, Kohli presented Wyatt with a bat. However, Wyatt said she was disappointed with the bat's performance, saying (as quoted by the Quint):

"It [The bat gifted by Kohli] was not really good, I only used it twice.”

Despite Wyatt's claim of limited use, reports suggest that she utilized that same Kohl bat to score a T20I century against India Women in 2018.

After remaining unsold in the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL), Wyatt was eventually acquired by the UP Warriorz at a base price of 30 lakh for the upcoming season.

In the upcoming WPL season, the 32-year-old Wyatt will look to make up for her previous setback. Despite her successful international career, Wyatt was disheartened after receiving no bids in the previous WPL auction.

However, her focus this time is on gratitude, a significant shift from her feelings of disappointment last year. She is determined to lead UP Warriorz to victory in WPL 2024.

This marks Wyatt's second visit to India within two months, following her participation in England's Test and T20I series in December.

Her recent impressive form was evident in her commanding 75-run innings against India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, just a day before the WPL auction. That innings really helped her to catch eyeballs of the franchises in the auction.

The WPL is scheduled to kickstart on February 23, with a rematch of last year's final. UP Warriorz will play their first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on February 24. Following the initial fixtures in Bangalore, the knockout matches, including the eliminator and the final, will be held in Delhi.
