Hardik Pandya has been the talk of the town since he decided to move from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians. He replaced Rohit Sharma as MI captain and has faced lot of criticism for leaving GT in return of captaincy and more money from MI franchise.
The Ahmedabad-based franchise was the one that believed in Hardik Pandya after MI did not retain him post the 2021 season. He took over the leadership in 2022 edition, and the combo of Hardik-Nehra delivered straightaway as they lifted the title in 2022.
Nehra as a head coach displayed great tactical nous and the duo continued their good show in the 2023 season as well, as GT reached the summit clash again. They lost the final on the very last ball but Hardik-Nehra were praised from all corners and it seemed that duo will be together in GT for a long time.
However, destiny and Hardik had other plans as before the IPL auction for the 2024 season, the all-rounder decided to take over leadership of MI, leaving all cricket fans shell-shocked.
Nehra though in a recent interview to PTI ,did not look too worried ahead of IPL 2024 and stated that he never tried to convince Hardik Pandya to stay back in GT.
The former pacer also added that the way cricket is shaping up, there might be many more transfers in future just like it happens in football.
"I never tried to convince Hardik to stay back, the way this sport is moving, we will see more such transfers like it happens in football."
GT will be lead by Shubman Gill in IPL 2024 and they will kick-start their campaign against Hardik Pandya's MI on 24th of March at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
