Pakistan batting prodigy Saim Ayub unfurled a couple of huge sixes early in his innings against Islamabad United in the all-important Eliminator 2 clash of the ongoing PSL 2024 season.

Opening the innings for Peshawar Zalmi alongside skipper Babar Azam, young Ayub took United speedster Naseem Shah to the cleaners before setting his sight on West Indies international Obed McCoy the very next over.

Saim Ayub notched up his second fifty-plus score of the PSL 2024 season through the course of his batting masterclass against Islamabad United in Eliminator number two. Remarkably, the youngster had made his intent clear in the opening over of the contest itself, where he flogged United speedster Naseem Shah for a huge pick-up no-look six over deep square.

Moreover, the prodigious batting talent also mauled Shah’s new-ball partner Obed McCoy the following over by unleashing a similar pick-up shot, this time dispatching the West Indies fast bowler over square leg.

Saim Ayub crashed a couple of scorching boundaries off McCoy in the next two deliveries to reap 15 runs from the second over of the innings.

Ayub completed a 25-ball half-century inside the 10th over, and ended up sharing a 72-run opening partnership with captain Babar Azam. The cricketer had already crashed six boundaries and four towering sixes by the time he reached 72* off just 40 deliveries.

The match, meanwhile, marks a must-win one for both sides, as the winner will set themselves a date with Multan Sultans in the PSL 2024 final on March 18.
