After an astonishing kickstart in the second season of the Women’s Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore has yet again suffered a major setback with two back-to-back losses in the recent games.
Australian Batting All-Rounder Ellyse Perry recently expressed her positive intent for the upcoming matches to drive RCB towards the finishing line.
In a challenging race to the qualifiers of WPL 2024, RCB Women currently stand at number four on the points table with a negative run rate of -0.015.
After winning their initial matches against UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore at one point in time became the only team to remain unbeaten in the season.
The two recent losses against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have made the qualification chances of Royal Challengers Bangalore bleak.
However, with four games left in the league stage, RCB has a strong chance of making an impactful comeback on the points table.
Ellyse Perry Optimistic about RCB-W's Path to Finals
In a recent interview with India Today, Ellyse Perry talked about the neck-to-neck competition for the two final spots of WPL 2024. She further talked about how consistency and good cricket are one of the key factors that can drive Royal Challengers Bangalore towards the finals.
“The competition has been tough. I guess the next couple of matches are very important for us. We have to be positive, which we have been throughout, and keep taking on the challenges. There’s not too much difference between playing really good games and not being quite on the mark. So, it’s about being as consistent as possible from here on in," Ellyse Perry said.
Perry put on a great show in the previous match against Mumbai Indians as she put 44 runs on the board off 38 balls with a strike rate of 115.79. Perry became the top scorer for RCB-W in the game but the team couldn’t defend the low target of 132 as MI-W won the game by 7 wickets.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Women are currently locking horns with UP Warriorz for the second time this season on 4th March in Bengaluru. RCB-W will eye a victory with a huge margin to keep their hopes of qualification alive.
