Rajasthan Royals’ ace leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has named himself as the top contender for the prestigious purple cap for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). 

After their hits and misses in the previous season, the Royals will be back with the hope of lifting their next IPL title.

Recently, an Esports streamer Gulrez Khan questioned Chahal on his YouTube channel ‘JokerKiHaveli' ahead of IPL 2024, Chahal predicted the top two contenders for the orange and purple cap.

While joking Yuzvendra Chahal first named himself to be a top challenger for the orange cap. He then picked his Rajasthan Royals team members, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler as the top contenders for the Orange Cap for IPL 2024.

Jaiswal has been a gem for Rajasthan Royals since his debut for the team in 2020. While the English Skipper Jos Buttler has powered up the innings for Rajasthan and several occasions.

Yuzvendra Chahal Eyes Purple Cap Title for IPL 2024

Further in the interview, Yuzvendra Chahal went on to talk about the prestigious purple cap and predicted himself to be the winner of the title for IPL 2024, followed by Gujarat Titans’ integral all-rounder Rashid Khan. Chahal took 21 wickets in the previous season of IPL, while Khan registered 27 scalps for the Titans.

Chahal said,

"Orange cap will go to (Yashasvi) Jaiswal or Jos Buttler. I will take the most wickets. Second, Rashid Khan.”

Rajasthan Royals picked Yuzvendra Chahal during the IPL 2022 mega auction after he was mysteriously dropped from Royal Challengers Bangalore, despite being a key player.

In his debut season for Rajasthan Royals, Yuzvendra Chahal bagged his maiden purple cap in 2022. Chahal dismissed 27 batsmen in the season to become the leading wicket-taker in the season.

Rajasthan Royals will commence their IPL 2024 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on 24th March at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur. With a promising squad for the season, the team will be eyeing a strong comeback after missing the mark to qualify for the qualifiers.
