MS Dhoni's CSK To Start IPL 2024 In Chennai On This 'Date' - IPL Chairman

In what is coming as positive news for all Indian Premier League (IPL) fans, the 10-team tournament is set to begin on 22nd March 2024, confirmed IPL chairman Arun Dhumal.

The news comes as a significant development for all the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans as well since the cash-rich league will see the defending champions feature in the first match this year at their home ground in Chepauk's MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Well, this will mark the return of India and Chennai's favourite MS Dhoni, who will return for the last time in the most-watched cricketing league on the planet for the Yellow Army.

Chairman Arun Dhumal, while speaking to Sportstar, gave the confirmation about the extravaganza starting in the second last week of March on Friday, with CSK all set to appear in the first game.

"The plan is to start the tournament on March 22 in Chennai. We are keeping a tab on the situation and since the dates for the general elections are announced, we can plan the later half of the tournament accordingly."

However, the entire schedule will be out in a few days as the BCCI is awaiting the General Elections 2024 polling dates, which will be released by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Additionally, there are reports that the schedule will be announced in two halves, beginning with the first fortnight, while the rest of the plan will be out when ECI releases the dates for the election.

Moreover, after the first game on the 22nd, the upcoming two days, i.e. 23rd and 24th of March, will have two double-headers like the previous seasons.
