CSK Faces Major Setback As Star Player Suffers Injury Before IPL 2024

In a significant setback for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2024 season, star all-rounder Shivam Dube is set to miss the remainder of the Ranji Trophy 2024 due to a bilateral side strain injury. Dube, who has been in exceptional form this season, sustained the injury while batting in Mumbai's last match against Assam.

According to sources, Dube's absence is a result of a grade one tear suffered during his impressive knock of 121 not out against Assam. 

Despite his injury, Dube has been a standout performer for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy 2024 season, amassing 407 runs in five matches, including two centuries and two half-centuries.

Additionally, he has contributed with the ball, taking 12 wickets with his medium-pace bowling.

The news of Dube's injury comes as Mumbai prepares to face Baroda in the quarterfinal clash scheduled for February 23 at the Mumbai Cricket Association's grounds in Bandra-Kurla Complex. 

With Dube sidelined, the spotlight now falls on the potential replacement, with teenage all-rounder Musheer Khan - who starred during the U19 World Cup 2024 - emerging as a likely candidate to fill the void left by the CSK star.

Dube's resurgence in the Ranji Trophy after a hiatus of several years has been remarkable, with the all-rounder showcasing his talent with both bat and ball. His consistent performances, including notable innings against Bihar, UP, Kerala, Bengal, and Assam, have been instrumental in Mumbai's success in the tournament.

Mumbai, undoubtedly, will feel the absence of Dube's services in the crucial quarterfinal clash against Baroda.

With the IPL 2024 and T20 World Cup on the horizon, Indian cricket fans are keenly anticipating Shivam Dube's recovery and his eventual return to full fitness.
