Mayank Yadav has become the talk of the town these days in the cricket world after his exceptional back-to-back performance for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2024.

The 21-year-old picked up six wickets across two matches with sheer pace, helping him to bag the Player of the Match award in successive encounters. In fact, he became the first man in the history of the competition to win the POTM award in the first two matches.

Meanwhile, Steve Smith, who was unsold in the previous auction of the IPL, joined the commentary panel for the host broadcaster, Star Sports. The talismanic Australian batsman has gained a lot of fans among Indians in the past two weeks, and the latest remark he made attracted even more attention.

As the five-match Test series between India and Australia, popularly known as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, gets underway on November 22 in Perth, there will be plenty of hype around it, given that it be the first red-ball series between two strong sides since 1991-92.

Smith, in a recent interaction, wanted Mayank to be in there and gave a gentle warning by saying he would be 'looking forward to facing him.'

"Mayank Yadav Should Play The Border-Gavaskar Trophy In Australia (later this year). I'm Looking Forward To Facing Him," Steve Smith said on Star Sports.

LSG will next play against Gujarat Titans on Monday (April 7) in Match 21 of the IPL 2024 at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
