On Thursday, Punjab Kings will cross swords against Gujarat Titans in the 17th group-stage fixture of the ongoing Indian Premier League season. 

Led by Shikhar Dhawan, Punjab Kings had a remarkable start to the season, securing a thumping four-wicket win in their tournament opener against Delhi Capitals. However, they couldn't sustain the momentum, incurring heavy defeats in two successive affairs. 

Barring Shikhar Dhawan, none of the PBKS batters has stepped up in the tournament. Keeper-batter Jitesh Sharma has been a major letdown, scoring only 42 runs in three outings. 

However, although he has failed to impress with the bat, they don't have a quality alternative to replace him in their playing XI. So, despite his poor returns, Jitesh is likely to get a long rope. 

Furthermore, Punjab Kings bowlers have been lacklustre in the slog overs, conceding 163 runs at a horrendous economy rate of 11.37. Harshal Patel has looked out of sorts with the ball, as he has picked only three wickets at a horrible economy of 11.42. 

So, the Kings might consider replacing Patel with someone like Rishi Dhawan. Also, as they aren't using Kagiso Rabada up front with the new ball, we reckon replacing him with Nathan Ellis can boost their death bowling.
