LSG fast bowler Mayank Yadav shattered RCB’s famed batting line-up at Bengaluru with his second successive three-fer this IPL 2024 season. The 21-year-old picked up the key wickets of Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green before curtailing Rajat Patidar’s threatening stay at the crease with sheer pace.

For his pulsating efforts, Mayank Yadav was fittingly adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’. Remarkably, the cricketer also attained a significant IPL milestone through his latest bowling spectacle.

Mayank Yadav achieves a rare IPL record

Mayank Yadav, who made his IPL debut last weekend with a game against Punjab Kings, celebrated the occasion with a match-winning three-fer and a ‘Player of the Match’ award.

In his second game against RCB on April 2, the 21-year-old added three more wickets to his tally and claimed yet another ‘Player of the Match’ award in his team’s match-winning cause.

By doing so, Mayank Yadav became the first cricketer in IPL’s 17-year history to bag two ‘Player of the Match’ awards in his first two games.

Apart from Mayank Yadav, his pace mates Naveen-ul-Haq, Yash Thakur and Marcus Stoinis also chipped in with key wickets to polish off RCB’s entire batting line-up for just 153.

Earlier in the match, LSG opener Quinton de Kock top-scored with a blistering 56-ball 81 at the top while Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran clubbed thunderous cameos at the death. Their collective batting efforts took LSG to a competitive 181-5 by the completion of their 20 overs.

LSG’s 28-run triumph over RCB marked their second successive win this IPL 2024 season, as they climbed to number four on the 10-team points table.
