Ahead of the opening match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the WACA Stadium in Perth on November 22, Australia seamer Mitchell Starc sat down for a few media interactions. Speaking to Star Sports, Starc namedropped the player who is his best friend from the Indian team.
Starc, who has spent a considerable time playing with and against the Indian players, revealed that he has the best bonding with former KKR captain Shreyas Iyer. Notably, Starc, who is the most expensive buy in IPL history, was a part of KKR last season and spent nearly two months in Iyer's company.
Mitchell Starc Heaps Massive Praise On Shreyas Iyer
Heaping massive praise on Iyer, Starc revealed that he loves spending time with the Indian.
"I enjoyed a great friendship with Shreyas Iyer after the IPL season, he was a fantastic captain, I sort of got to know him more off the field rather than just playing against him, he is a fantastic person, a fantastic character, and I loved spending time with him," said Starc in interaction with Star Sports.
KKR Release Shreyas And Starc Ahead Of IPL 2025
It is worth noting that Iyer led KKR to their third IPL title in 2024, and Starc too played a key part in that campaign. Unfortunately, neither Starc nor Iyer were retained by the Knight Riders in their retention list for the upcoming season.
Both Starc and Iyer will go under the hammer on November 24 at the IPL 2025 mega-auction in Jeddah. Sadly for Iyer, he too is out of the scheme of things in red-ball cricket and is not a part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, he knocked on the selectors' doors with a double century in the ongoing edition of the Ranji Trophy.
