The highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is just around the corner, set to begin on November 22 in Australia. There’s exciting news for fans, as two big names—captain Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Mohammed Shami—are set to join the squad ahead of the first Test.

Rohit Sharma, who recently welcomed a baby boy, will likely join the team in time for the opening match in Perth. The timing of his arrival had raised questions, but it now looks like he’ll be ready to lead the team as planned.

Star pacer Mohammed Shami, who made a strong return to cricket during the Ranji Trophy 2024, will also travel with Rohit to Australia. According to Dainik Bhaskar, Shami is all set to be included in the squad for the series but will likely only be considered for the playing XI after the first match in Perth.

Mohammed Shami Helps Bengal Beat Madhya Pradesh By 11 Runs

Shami has had a stellar comeback in domestic cricket, where his remarkable performances have earned him a spot in the Australia-bound squad. His standout moment came in a crucial Ranji Trophy match, where he helped Bengal secure a narrow 11-run victory over Madhya Pradesh in Indore.

Shami was in top form during this match, he picked seven wickets across both innings. In the second innings, he picked up three key wickets, including those of Rajat Patidar, Anubhav Agarwal, and Kumar Kartikeya. His final wicket sealed Bengal’s win, and his performance also included a quick-fire 37 runs in the second innings, which helped Bengal set a challenging target.

With Shami and Rohit both joining the squad, India’s preparations for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy are in full swing. The first Test kicks off in Perth on November 22, followed by four more exciting matches across Australia. After Perth, the teams will head to Adelaide for a Day/Night Test, followed by matches in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
