In the recently concluded WBBL match between Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat, the Jess Jonassen-led side registered a comfortable six-wicket win. With the victory, the Heat moved to third place in the table with 10 points in eight matches.
Talking about the match, Lucy Hamilton won the player of the match award for her brilliant five-wicket haul that restricted the Stars to just 138/10 after 20 overs. Meanwhile, Brisbane lost an early wicket, but Jemimah Rodrigues displayed her batting prowess and stunned Melbourne with the strokeplay.
Rodrigues Misses Out On Her Fifty
Rodrigues played a brilliant knock of 45 (31) and missed out on a well-deserved fifty by just five runs. Her innings featured five fours and two sixes. However, Annabel Sutherland too hogged the internet for her brilliant delivery that sent Jemimah packing.
On the last ball of the 13th over, Sutherland bowled a brilliant slower delivery that fooled Rodrigues and eventually castled her stumps.
Rodrigues Continues Her brilliant Form
Rodrigues is in a stellar form, but is still in search of her second fifty of the season. Notably, she started her WBBL 2024 campaign with a 45-runs knock and has amassed 177 runs in six games so far, averaging 29.50. Further, she is hitting the ball at a strike-rate of 139.37.
Talking about the match, once Rodrigues returned to the pavilion, Charli Knott took the onus on her shoulders and played a 35 (36) runs knock that sealed the win for The Heat. Eventually, they won by six wickets with 15 balls left in hand.
Talking about the Stars, they are still in hunt of their third win of the season and are placed 7th on the table with four points in seven games.
