Rinku Singh mauled Afghanistan’s high-flying pace attack with a scorching 39-ball 69* at Bengaluru, thus leading India’s recovery through a match-winning stand with captain Rohit Sharma. The cricketer blasted six sixes in the innings, including three in succession off the final three balls to lift India from 22-4 to a colossal 212-run total upfront.

The 26-year-old also unleashed a sizzling 92 against Kerala for Uttar Pradesh in their opening Ranji Trophy 2024 game, mere weeks after starring in India’s famous ODI series win in South Africa.

Rinku’s splendid run with the bat off late has now landed him much admiration from none other than former Proteas captain and all-time great AB de Villiers, who described the young ‘Men in Blue’ star a consistent performer and a matchwinner.

ABD praises Rinku Singh for newfound consistency

Former South African captain and legendary batsman AB de Villiers, recognizing Rinku Singh’s newfound consistency with the bat, hailed the Indian cricketer for putting up numerous match-winning exhibitions for his country. Taking to his YouTube channel, the RCB legend said:

"Rinku Singh is a fantastic player, a match-winner, and it is good to see him become consistent as well. You need to be a consistent player who is always trying to win games for your team."

Soon after starring in India’s 3-0 T20I series win against Afghanistan, Rinku Singh returned to the domestic setup for Uttar Pradesh through the ongoing 2024 Ranji Trophy. The hard-hitting left-handed batsman is currently in Meerut for a four-day bout against domestic rivals Bihar.

A couple of months from now, Rinku will be seen joining the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp for the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. The cricketer was retained by the KKR team management alongside franchise veterans Shreyas Iyer, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell last year.
