[WATCH] Trent Boult Drops A Sitter Before Gurbaz Wins It For Dubai Capitals In ILT20 2024

New Zealand speedster Trent Boult picked up the key wickets of Dubai Capitals captain David Warner and number three Jake Fraser-McGurk to finish with astonishing figures of 2-23 from his four overs. Turning up for the MI Emirates in match number two of the ongoing ILT20 2024 season, the pace veteran could have finished with even better figures had he held on to a sitter from Capitals opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz in his first over of the innings.

Boult missed a simple caught-and-bowled opportunity off Gurbaz, who in turn, whacked a whirlwind 39-ball 81 to win it for Dubai Capitals.

Trent Boult drops opening game by reprieving Gurbaz

Defending 160 for a win, MI Emirates fast bowler Trent Boult tricked Dubai Capitals’ Afghanistan-based opening batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz in just the third ball of his first over with a cunning in-swinger. While Gurbaz popped back an easy caught-and-bowled opportunity to Boult, the speedster made a mess of making an early impact in the innings.

Boult did conquer Capitals captain David Warner in his following over for just a run against the latter’s name. However, reprieving Gurbaz proved costly for MI Emirates as the Afghanistan opening batsman blazed his side to an easy victory with a run-chase masterclass.

The cricketer produced 81 runs from just 39 balls, and his whirlwind knock was laced with eight boundaries and four sixes. Number three Jake Fraser-McGurk belted a 25-ball 54 after Warner’s dismissal, as the Dubai Capitals claimed their opening points of the ILT20 2024 season with seven wickets and four overs to spare.

Trent Boult, fresh from an astonishing spell that was tendered in vain by Gurbaz’s blitzkrieg, will now go up against Gulf Giants in match number four of the competition on January 21.
