Delhi Capitals blanked Punjab Kings by six wickets in a high-scoring cracker at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium in match number 66 of the IPL 2025 season. The outcome marked Capitals’ seventh win of the season and their first after forming an unfortunate string of four straight defeats.
With Delhi Capitals’ campaign now coming to an end, team mentor Kevin Pietersen penned an emotional note as was preparing to leave India on Sunday, May 25. The former English captain lamented Capitals near playoff miss, but also celebrated their comprehensive win over Punjab Kings in a virtual dead-rubber.

Taking to X a day after Delhi Capitals thrashed Punjab Kings by six wickets in Jaipur, team mentor Kevin Pietersen confirmed that he is now flying back out of India. The former England cricketer also expressed his disappointment over Capitals not making it to the playoffs, despite starting off the season on a comprehensive note.
Pietersen, however did found “some joy” that his team signed off with a win against Punjab Kings. He wrote:
“Leaving India pretty gutted having gotten so close to qualifying for the play offs. Some joy though after our performance last night. Sport is brutal!”
Compatible to Kevin Pietersen’s claims, Delhi Capitals started off with four straight wins this IPL 2025 season. Moreover, Axar Patel and co. registered six wins out of their first eight matches and were one of the leading contenders to make it to the playoffs at the halfway stage of the tournament.
However, the Capitals managed to register just a solitary win off their subsequent six games, with one of them turning out to be a no-result in Hyderabad.
