Sophia Dunkley has powered Welsh Fire to an important win in the their first match against the Manchester Originals. The home team won the toss in the match and opted to bat first. 

The Manchester Originals struggled in their middle-overs and stuttered through to a total of 113/7 in their 100 balls. Sophie Ecclestone needed quick wickets to put the Welsh Fire on the back foot and have a chance at winning the game. 

However, the opening duo of the Welsh Fire looked resolute and did not allow the Originals a chance in the game. Sophia Dunkley and Tammy Beaumont stitched a partnership of 65 runs and set the stage  for the chase.

Welsh Fire lost a couple of wickets after that. However, Sophia Dunkley stayed strong in the crease and played a brilliant knock off 69 runs from 47 deliveries. On the last ball of the 17th set Dunkley slammed away Kim Garth for a huge maximum down the ground.

It was a fullish delivery by Australian all-rounder around the off stump line. Dunkley shuffles across the stumps and set herself up to launch the ball away over the long-off fence for a huge maximum. 

The English opener stayed there till the end and powered the Welsh Fire to a seven wicket win against the Originals.
