India, the T20 World Champions, will be fielding a full-strength side for the time since winning the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados -- against Sri Lanka in the three-match T20I rubber starting this Saturday.

Suryakumar Yadav will take the reigns of the T20I side after Rohit Sharma retires from the shortest format. Rohit and Virat Kohli's retirement has opened the doors for Shubman Gill, who will start the proceedings with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings in the recently concluded T20I against Zimbabwe as well, where the duo shared some enthralling partnerships alongside an unbeaten 156-run stand. While commenting on his opening partner, the Indian vice-captain said he enjoys batting with the prolific southpaw.

"I think we really enjoy batting with each other. I think the kind of shots we both play, we both compliment each other. The lefty-righty pair definitely helps in T20 cricket. In the matches we have played together, we have had great partnerships. We have also had two 150+ partnerships. We have a great understanding and communication in the middle, and I really like that about us," Shubman Gill on opening in T20Is with Yashasvi Jaiswal ahead of the T20Is against Sri Lanka.

Interestingly, the duo have scored a total of 442 runs off just 8 T20I innings while batting together at rapid rates, with two hundred and one 50 partnerships between them.

Nevertheless, Gill, who will be the deputy in both white-ball series against Sri Lanka, missed making the cut in the T20 World Cup squad. However, Jaiswal was in the 15-member squad that won the ICC title for India, breaking the 11-year-old exile.
