Axar Patel, who was promoted up the order in the finals of the T20 World Cup 2024, has given credit to all-rounder Hardik Pandya for his brilliant knock against South Africa.

Axar came into bat when India had lost a couple of early wickets, and the team needed to consolidate. He, alongside Virat Kohli stabalized the innings and pushed India's total past the 170-run mark.

Axar credits Hardik for his success in T20 WC final

In a close-fought contest, India narrowly defeated South Africa to clinch the T20 WC for the second time in their history. Now, after almost 3 weeks, Axar has revealed that Hardik told him not to take stress and just watch and hit the ball.

Axar Patel said: "When our 3 wickets was down, I was going to bat in Final, Hardik told me in Gujarati not to take any stress. He told 'Just watch the ball & hit the ball' - that stuck with me and helped me during the batting," as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Axar played a brilliant knock of 47 off 31 deliveries which helped India win the contest. Post the T20 World Cup win, India were felicitated by the BCCI, and a special open bus parade was organized in Mumbai, to honour the World Champions.
