Jaiswal Better Than Gill Just Like Kohli Is Better Than Babar: PAK Batter Issues An Unpopular Opinion

Former Pakistani opener Basit Ali firmly believes that Yashasvi Jaiswal, a promising talent, is a better batter than Shubman Gill, who might have performed well but is much inferior to the Rajasthan Royals opener. 

He expressed his unpopular opinion by saying that the two have a difference, just like the difference between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. He also said it's an insult to Jaiswal, who is yet to make his ODI debut in India.

"Shubman Gill has some good performances, but technically, Yashasvi Jaiswal is far better. The difference between Jaiswal and Gill is the same as the difference between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. Jaiswal is a top player and not picking him in the ODI squad is an insult to him."

"Gill is a forearm player. He will succeed where the ball will come onto you quickly and you need to hit cut and pull, otherwise, his initial movement is very lazy. With his feet movement, he will be troubled by the swinging ball."

He further added that Jaiswal will be a much better Captain than Shubman Gill and said:

"Yashasvi Jaiswal will be a better captain than Shubman Gill. It is a big thing that India have appointed Gill as the vice-captain in both the white-ball formats."

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was left out from India's ODI squad against Sri Lanka, has had a tremendous year. 

Now a T20 World Cup champion, Jaiswal started this year with a bang scoring two double centuries against England and becoming the highest run-scorer in the series. He followed that up, with a century for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024.

Although he did not get a chance to play a single game at Barbados, he made a thumping return in India's Tour of Zimbabwe and now in the first T20I game vs Sri Lanka he smashed a quick 40 off just 21 balls.
