A big mix-up in the middle (X.com)
Early in the game, a devastating mix-up between Vishmi Gunaratne and Chamari Athapaththu in the middle set a grim tone for Sri Lanka Women against India Women. Losing their first wicket for just one run, it was a costly start for the Sri Lankan team.

In the 2nd over, Pooja Vastrakar bowled a fuller-length delivery outside the off; Gunaratne came forward and flicked it to mid-wicket. She immediately took off for a single, but Athapaththu was not interested after backing up for the single.
Uma Chetry quickly threw the ball towards Richa Ghosh, stationed before the stumps, and promptly dislodged the bails. A terrible miscommunication between the skipper and the opener resulted in a significant mishap.
With this, India made their first breakthrough but that doesn't mean trouble is over for them as Chamari Athapaththu still stands tall.
The defending champions started on a high note and managed to put up a challenging total of 166 runs for the opposition. The Sri Lankan women still need 91 runs in 62 balls to win this clash.
