On July 27, India registered a brilliant win against Sri Lanka in the first T20I of the ongoing series, defeating the hosts by 43 runs. 

Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal played pivotal roles in India's triumph, with Gill scoring 34 runs and Jaiswal contributing 40. The dynamic duo gave India a solid start, showcasing their complementary batting styles.

In the post-match presentation, Shubman Gill opened up about his partnership with Jaiswal, highlighting their strategic approach and mutual understanding at the crease. 

We spoke about having good communication: Gill

"Not really (panicked). We spoke about having good communication and we knew we just needed one wicket (when SL were 140/1). It is great batting with him (Jaiswal) and we complement each other. Our style is different, our plan is simple - assess the conditions and then take on the bowlers. When you are opening the innings, see how the pitch is behaving and play accordingly (that's the plan)," Gill remarked.

India's innings began with a commanding total of 213 runs, thanks to contributions from the entire batting lineup. 

The bowlers then executed their plans effectively, restricting Sri Lanka to 170 runs and securing a 43-run victory. This win not only gave India a 1-0 lead in the series but also set a positive tone for the remaining matches.
