Ravindra Jadeja might have stood tall like a wall at Lord’s, but not everyone is convinced about the full package. Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali has doffed his hat to Jadeja’s gutsy knocks in the third Test but also dropped a truth bomb about his bowling.

While Jadeja the batter has shown nerves of steel, Jadeja the bowler, according to Moeen, is still blowing hot and cold.

Moeen Ali Calls Out Jadeja’s Bowling Form

Speaking to India Today, Moeen Ali gave credit where it was due.

“He just knows what he’s doing. I think he’s done it for many years. I think he’s been amazing with the bat this series, obviously.”

But then came the caveat.

“I think with the ball, he hasn’t quite got the wickets, but he does what he does. He’s very tight. He can bowl, but he’s not outstanding… I think now he’s at the peak of his batting. Bowling-wise, I think he just doesn’t have the wickets. With the tally, I think he’s bowled well, he just doesn’t have the wickets.”

In other words, Moeen feels Ravindra Jadeja is still landing the ball in the right areas but just not reaping the rewards. With only three wickets in three matches in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy so far, the stats back up that sentiment.

Kuldeep’s Exclusion Raises Questions

With Washington Sundar being picked as the second spin-bowling all-rounder, Kuldeep Yadav has been warming the bench for three straight Tests. Moeen, like many fans, wants to see the chinaman back in whites.

“I would like to see Kuldeep in the team, but I don’t know who for. Washington has bowled well, Jadeja batted well. So it makes it difficult to bring Kuldeep Yadav in the side. I would like to see Kuldeep in, but I don’t think they can fit him in,” Moeen said.

India now heads into the fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester with the series locked at 1-1. With Jadeja scoring runs and Washington doing a tidy job with the ball, team management finds itself in a proper selection dilemma.

Will they back Jadeja to spin it big in the next game or finally bring Kuldeep into the playing XI? Either way, if India wants to break the deadlock, they will need more bite from their spinners because batting alone won’t win you a Test in England.
