Gujarat Titans registered a thrilling last ball win to end the invincible run of Rajasthan Royals and despite 46 needed off the final 3 overs, captain Shubman Gill was confident of his side pulling it through.

Rajasthan Royals put their foot wrong for the first time this IPL 2024 season against Gujarat Titans earlier today at Jaipur.

Despite dominating for almost half of the game, RR let the game slip in the death as GT chased down around 45 runs in the final three overs courtesy of Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan's magnificent finish.

That being said, GT captain Shubman Gill revealed in a post-game interview that he always had the belief in his boys to finish the game comfortably. Apparently, GT were aiming to reduce the asking rate to 15 runs per over which he thought was gettable.

"No, not really because I feel we were targeting 45 runs off the final 3 overs and it's a getable one as we need to just get 15 runs off each over. If one of the batter goes brisk then the match can get over even two or three balls prior," Gill said.

Furthermore, Gill credited the impact sub rule to opine how the extra batter adds to the confidence and positive mindset.

"It does make a difference if you have an extra batter there, I think it's the mindset to make things more easy," he added.

Reacting to his form, Shubman Gill was dissatisfied. While he was happy with the start, the opener wanted to finish things for his side. But he was proud of the way Tewatia and Rashid approached the overall under pressure chase.

"(On his form) Yeah, I felt really well but would have loved to finish the game, but nevertheless, Rashid bhai(Rashid Khan) and Rahul bhai (Rahul Tewatia) batted well and took our team over the line," Gill further added.

Gill lastly added that GT was unlucky to have lost the previous couple of games. But he will take the last ball to finish to climb further into the points table.

"Even in the last few games, I think we dominated in more than 50 percent of the game. Winning off the last ball is always a great feeling, Rashid is someone who you always want in your team, he is such a competitor," Gill concluded.

Gujarat Titans have moved up the ladder by grabbing sixth spot on the points table whereas Rajasthan Royals continue to remain at the top with eight points.
