GT Skipper Shubman Gill Races To 3000 IPL Runs With Steady Start Vs RR In IPL 2024

With a steady start against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in an IPL 2024 encounter, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill showcased his trademark composure and technique, which propelled him to a significant milestone – 3000 IPL runs.

In a delayed start due to rain, GT clashed with RR in an IPL 2024 game at Jaipur earlier today. Batting first, RR skipper Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag stitched a 100 partnership, and with Hetmyer's finishing touch, RR posted 196 runs on board by the end of the first innings.

While GT would have liked a few runs less off the target, captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan walked out with aggressive intent. 

Gill, with an aim to maximise the field restriction advantage, attacked Keshav Maharaj and Avesh Khan to clock some much-needed boundaries.

With that, Shubman Gill unlocked his 3000th IPL run to unlock a major career milestone. Gill took 94 innings to reach the milestone and joined the list of quickest players to reach 3000 IPL runs. He is tied for fourth fastest with David Warner and Faf du Plessis.

Not only that, Gill surpassed veteran Virat Kohli to become the youngest one to unlock 3000 IPL runs. While Kohli achieved the feat at 26 years of age, Gill is still 24. In addition, Shubman Gill also rounded up 4000 runs in the T20 format. 

Indeed, Gill's achievement is a testament to his consistency and longevity in the IPL, establishing him as a true stalwart of the tournament.

That being said, Shubman Gill has to lead from the front on Wednesday and bat deep to keep GT alive in the tough 197-run chase, but the GT skipper got outclassed by Yuzi Chahal.
