Preparations for the upcoming 2027 ICC ODI World Cup are in full swing as News 24 leaked official venues of the South African leg of the tournament. While Wanderers Stadium and SuperSport Park, amongst many popular venues, made the cut, a few were left out, citing improper facilities.

2027 ICC ODI World Cup is scheduled for the October-November window with hosting rights split between South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

South Africa and Zimbabwe will receive direct qualification as host nations whereas Namibia will have to fight it out in qualifiers.

That being said, News 24 recently released a list of South African venues confirmed for the tournament.

As per the leak, Wanderers Stadium, SuperSport Park, Newlands, Boland Park, Kingsmead, St.Georges Park, Buffalo Park, and Mangaung Oval have been granted hosting rights by Cricket South Africa.

However, the board were forced to leave out Benoni, JB Marks Oval, and Diamond Oval citing factors such as availability of hotels, proximity to airports and inbuilt training areas.

"We do indeed have 11 ICC-accredited venues, so it was hard to leave out three, but a whole lot of things were taken into consideration.  There's also the important matter of training venues outside the ones available at the venue," said Pholetsi Moseki, CEO of CSA.

Besides these popular venues, the rest of the games will be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The structure of the mega ICC event will be remotely similar to that of the previous edition. Top eights teams of the ICC ODI rankings will recieve direct qualification with the rest of the slots filled by qualifiers winners.

The qualified teams will then be divided into two groups of seven each, with the top three heading to the Super Six stage before the semi-final and finals stage.
