IND vs BAN | 'Huge Blow…’: Aaron Finch’s Early Prediction For Shakib's Injury

Bangladesh's biggest match-winner, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, was racing against time to regain fitness for their crucial ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 encounter with India today in Pune.

Skipper Hasan suffered a thigh injury when Bangladesh took on New Zealand in Chennai and has since been out of action. Former Australia and T20 World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch believes that Hasan's unavailability could be a massive blow for the Bangla Tigers against an in-form Team India.

Speaking to Star Sports, Finch, however, stated that if Bangladesh performs exceedingly well across departments, especially their batting, they could challenge India.

In 22 ODIs against India, Hasan has scored 751 runs and picked up 29 wickets, including one five-wicket haul.

Here's what Finch said

"Yeah, that would be a huge blow (Shakib injury) if he's not in their side, because the experience, the captaincy, that goes without saying. What do they need to do? Well, they need to do everything exceptionally well and for somebody to have an absolute day out. I think with either bat or ball. They've got the skill there; I think that with their batting line up, there's just been a little bit too much shuffling around.

"I'd like to see their best players get right up to the top. Really stack the high middle order there and let them take the pressure, because you might get a better result than what we've seen so far at this time.”

India holds an impressive 3-1 win record over Bangladesh in World Cups, having only lost in the disastrous 2007 edition.
