World's No.2 ranked ICC ODI Batter, Shubman Gill, has had a stellar 2023, barring the past week or so - where the player dealt with illness and made his much-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 debut.

Gill made his comeback against Pakistan, scoring 16 runs, which all came in boundaries, after missing India's opening WC matches against Australia and Afghanistan owing to dengue.

With India taking on Bangladesh today at Pune, Gill could achieve an unprecedented One-Day International (ODI) landmark in his short career.

Currently sitting on 1,933 runs, Gill needs 67 more runs to reach 2,000 ODI runs, which if achieved will become the fastest-ever. Former South Africa batter Hashim Amla holds the record for scoring the fastest 2,000 ODI runs in 40 innings, while Gill has played 36 until now.

Behind Amla, Pakistan's Zaheer Abbas (45), England's Kevin Pietersen (45), Pakistan's Babar Azam (45), and South Africa's Russie van der Dussen (45) round off an impressive top 5.

Gill could also break Shikhar Dhawan's Indian record for scoring fastest 2,000 ODI runs in 48 innings.

Overall, in 36 innings, the Gujarat Titans (GT) player has scored 1,933 runs with six centuries and nine half-centuries, at an impressive average of 64.4.

The 24-year-old will fancy his chances of scoring these remaining runs against Bangaldesh, against whom the batter enjoys great success, having scored 278 runs across formats, including 121 ODI.
