In a significant setback for Bangladesh, their skipper Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the crucial World Cup clash against India in Pune. Notably, Shakib sustained a quadriceps injury during Bangladesh's previous group-stage game against New Zealand and will, therefore, not play in this game. In his absence, ace batter Najmul Hossain Shanto is leading Bangladesh in this match.

Hailed for his incredible all-round attributes, Shakib came to the World Cup on the back of several stellar outings in the Asia Cup, where he amassed 173 runs at an impressive average of 43.25.

However, the veteran cricketer has had a quiet World Cup with the bat, managing only 55 runs in three matches. However, the Tigers will miss his bowling against the Indians, as he has been incredible with the ball, scalping five wickets at an economy of 4.86.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to bat first in this high-voltage clash in Pune. They have made two changes to the squad, that took part in the last game, replacing Shakib and Taskin Ahmed with Nasum Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud respectively.
