In a shocking revelation, former U19 World Cup winning batter Shreevats Goswami accused Kolkata division clubs Mohammedan Sporting and Town Club of match-fixing.

Shreevats Goswami, a former Indian cricketer, was a part of India's U19 World Cup-winning team led by Virat Kohli. However, he couldn't make it big despite several stints in the IPL and eventually retired from first-class cricket in 2023.

However, this time, Goswami has caused a massive uproar by posting clips of a Cricket Association of Bengal's (CAB) first-division league cricket game between Mohammedan Sporting and Town Club.

Shreevats Goswami alleged match-fixing by stating that Mohammedan Sporting Club's batters intentionally threw their wickets in a questionable manner to avail 7 points to Town club, backed by former India team manager Debabrata Das. Notably, Das served as tour manager for India in 2022 and now serves as secretary in CAB.

Goswami posted videos on his Facebook page to express that he was ashamed to see the dire state of club cricket in Bengal. He tagged CAB and requested them to order immediate inquiry into the matter and not let club cricket, which he believes is the heart of Bengal, die.

“This is a Super Division match in Kolkata Club Cricket, two big teams doing this, any idea what’s going on here? I am ashamed to see this having played the game which is so close to my heart. I love cricket and I love playing in Bengal but looking at this breaks my heart. Club cricket is heart and soul of Bengal cricket please don’t ruin it. I think this is called ‘got up’ cricket. Where is the media now?” Goswami wrote.

Notably, after Shreevats Goswami's Facebook video went viral, CAB president Snehasish Ganguly summoned match referees with a detailed report of the division league game in question.

Interestingly, the three-day game concluded on Wednesday, with the Town Club claiming seven points and a big margin win.
