A recent video circulating on social media has stirred up a storm in Kolkata's cricket circles, raising concerns about the integrity of the game. The video captures moments from a match between Town Club and Mohammedan Sporting Club in Kolkata's First Division Group A league.

The video depicts several instances that have raised suspicions of match-fixing. In one instance, opener Sambit Roy from Mohammedan Sporting Club appears to intentionally get out at just 20 runs, sparking doubts about his intentions. Additionally, Captain Deep Chatterjee's decision to let go of a close chance against bowler Sandeep Tomar further fueled speculation.

Sudip Kumar Yadav also came under scrutiny for his actions during the match. Yadav chose to spare his wicket on the first delivery he faced, followed by engaging in conversation with his partner between the overs instead of focusing on the game.

Despite two close chances where he failed to connect with the ball, Yadav's luck prevailed as he escaped getting out.

From the video footage, it appears that the batters from Mohammedan Sporting Club had a pre-defined mindset and showed no intention to play the ball with a focused mindset, raising further suspicions.

It is worth noting that Mohammedan Sporting Club is one of the most famous cricket clubs in Bengal, adding gravity to the allegations.

Former cricketer Shrivats Goswami expressed his disappointment and embarrassment over these incidents on Facebook. He emphasized the importance of preserving the integrity of club cricket in Bengal, urging teams not to tarnish its reputation. Goswami called for media intervention to address the issue promptly.

As of now, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has not issued an official statement regarding these allegations. However, the viral video has cast a shadow over the gentleman's game, raising concerns about fair play and sportsmanship.
