Bengal all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed finds himself in the not-so-good books of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) after irking the state cricketing apex body.

As per Sportskeeda, Ahmed, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, has not been picking up calls from any board officials, which include the president, coaching staff, or even his teammates, leaving his whereabouts a mystery.

The all-rounder suffered a lateral meniscus tear during Bengal's quarterfinal clash against Haryana in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where Ahmed slammed 100 off 118 balls, and since then has been away from active cricket.

CAB President Snehasish Ganguly stated that CAB has written to NCA about Ahmed, but the lack of response from the player has not gone down well with the association.

“I don’t know what’s up with him. I had called him but he didn’t respond. I have also written back to NCA with some queries against its report. We are also cricketers and we know what injury takes how much time to heal. Shahbaz is what he is because of Bengal and he should also be there when Bengal need him,” he said.

Meanwhile, assistant coach Sourasish Lahiri has called the scenario 'unfortunate', while echoing similar sentiments to that of Ganguly.

“It is really unfortunate. None of us know anything about him. The president had phoned him and he didn’t answer even that call. I don’t know why he is doing this,”  he added.

Moreover, Ahmed is likely to miss out on Bengal's remaining four Elite Group B matches and has so far gained five points from three matches.
