In an important milestone that underscores Sanju Samson’s impact on the Rajasthan Royals’ successful IPL 2024 season campaign, the captain scored his 500th season runs against PBKS and joined the ranks in the orange cap list.

Rajasthan Royals, after marching to the top in first half of the IPL 2024 season, lost three games on the trot as the tournament nears its business end of things.

Fortunately, LSG’s loss against DC confirmed their playoff berth. Still, RR needs to fight back to ensure a top-2 finish alongside KKR.

That being said, RR stepped out without Jos Buttler today to pace PBKS as the Englishman left the squad for national duties. And in a first jolt, RR lost in-form opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in the powerplay while batting first.

However, against the odds, captain Sanju Samson stepped up to the rescue and played a sensible innings in the middle.

In the process, Samson brought up his 500th run of the season to break into the top five slots of the orange cap list.

Sanju Samson has been massively consistent for RR this year, and throughout the tournament, he has maintained a strike rate of over 150, with the average nearly touching 63.

Importantly, what sets Samson apart is not just his ability to score runs but also his knack for scoring them when it matters most. He is definitely a big-match player and will play a key role in RR’s playoff campaign.

However, as far as the ongoing match against PBKS is concerned, RR is not in a decent spot at all. They have lost Sanju amid a series of dot balls and now the onus to carry RR to a competitive total will fall onto Riyan Parag.
