As the countdown to the T20 World Cup 2024 ticks down to the final two weeks, Disney Hotstar and Star Sports Network are already hitting it out of the park with their latest initiative aimed at cricket fans with hearing and visual impairments.

In a path-breaking move, the broadcasters have announced that both Indian Sign Language (ISL) and audio descriptive feeds will be made available during the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

This move is not only a game changer but also a significant step towards inclusivity to ensure that the excitement of cricket can be experienced by everyone, regardless of their abilities.

The Information and Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur, lauded the initiative in a recent press release, stating, "The Government of India is committed to creating an inclusive society, and I strongly believe that this initiative will significantly enhance the viewing experience for millions of differently-abled sports enthusiasts."



The innovative approach has already been field-tested during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and has reportedly received enthusiastic feedback.

Sajith Sivanandan, Head of Disney Hotstar India, highlighted the network's dedication to inclusivity, stating, "This underscores our commitment to promoting inclusivity and serving all users. With these enhancements, we aim to ensure that the excitement of cricket knows no bounds.”

Similarly, Sanjog Gupta, Head of Disney Star (Sports), highlighted the positive reception of the new features, indicating a promising outlook for their implementation during the World Cup.

With these enhancements, Disney Hotstar and Star Sports are setting a new standard for accessibility in sports broadcasting, ensuring that all fans, regardless of their physical challenges, are part of the cricket fever that sweeps the globe during the T20 World Cup.
