The IPL fever has already caught the masses, as we are only four sleeps away from the start of the tournament. 

The highly-anticipated seventeenth season of the lucrative league begins this Friday, with defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament opener at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. 

Talking about Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions will kickstart their campaign against the 2022 edition champions Gujarat Titans on Sunday, April 24. Ahead of the marquee event, MI's head coach, Mark Boucher, addressed reporters in a press conference this afternoon. 

In the pre-tournament presser, the former South African cricketer hailed veteran batter Rohit Sharma, explaining his importance for the side. 

Considering how Rohit performed in the recently held England Tests, Boucher expected him to bring out his A-game in the tournament and power all the way through to the knockouts. 

"Rohit has been in fantastic touch, the way he was hitting the ball against England. I am looking forward to seeing him go out & express himself - If he has a fantastic season, we will be there in the final stages of the tournament."

Notably, Rohit was impressive with the bat in the home Test series against England, amassing 400 runs at a superb average of 44.44. 

However, he will play as a pure batter in the IPL 2024, with Hardik Pandya set to lead the franchise. As he won't be burdened by leadership, we expect the Indian stalwart to have a memorable IPL 2024 journey and guide his team to glory.
