Finally, the wait for lifting the trophy came to an end for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, as the Smriti Mandhana-led RCB team won the Women's Premier League. The former owner of the RCB franchise, Vijay Mallya, congratulated the RCB Women's team after their maiden WPL trophy.

Vijay Mallya was the owner of Kingfisher Airlines and Brewery but succumbed to income tax frauds and scams, which is why he left India and even left the ownership of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.

After years of speculation and investigation, he was declared bankrupt and ran away from India to the United Kingdom. Now, that the RCB team had lifted their first trophy, he could not help but post a tweet congratulating the Women in Red.

Mallya also wished good luck to the men's RCB team and showcased his expectations from them in the coming IPL season.

Here's what Vijay Mallya has tweeted:

Vijay Mallya wants RCB Men's team to win the upcoming IPL season as he stated it is long overdue. During his time as the owner of the franchise, Vijay Mallya and his son were always present in the stands to extend their support towards the franchise, but since the controversy, they haven't been spotted supporting the team.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will be taking on the Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the upcoming season of the IPL in Chennai.
