India's ace pacer, Prasidh Krishna, has come under heavy criticism after a poor showing in the first Test Vs England at Headingley, Leeds, and the bowler has taken 'full responsibility' for the shambolic showing by the Indian bowlers in the match. The pacer conceded more than 200 runs in the match as England chased down 371 with 5 wickets in hand.

India were the dominant team for the majority of the Test match as the batters put England on the back-foot. However, some wayward bowling in both the innings and erratic fielding performance led to England taking a lead in the series. After the game, Krishna was one of the players who got thrown under the bus for his bowling display.

Krishna takes 'full responsibility' for India's loss

Ahead of the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, Krishna took the entire blame for the loss and stated that he could have been better with his lines and lengths.

"If I look at the first innings, I was a little too short than where I wanted to be, 6-8 is ideal. Second innings it got slightly better, because again, the wicket was slightly slower. I had to pitch a few slightly behind 8, and go slightly fuller, when I am trying to get a wicket.

"I definitely did not bowl the lengths that I wanted to. It took me some time to get used to the slope on that side. No reasons, but I should be able to do it as a professional. I take complete responsibility about it, and maybe, do it better next time," Indian seamer said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Why Krishna is to be blamed for India's loss

The hit the deck seamer is known for extracting the bounce from the surface but against England, he failed to utilize his best skills.

In the first innings of England, the Indian pacer conceded 128 runs and picked up 3 wickets but went at an economy of 6.40. The story repeated in the second innings as the hosts needed 371 to win and the pacer went for 92 runs in 15 overs, and eased up the pressure on the England side.

While the likes of Jasprit Bumrah bowled at correct lines and lengths, Krishna missed his target and the England batters took full advantage of it.
