Prasidh Krishna felt the full force of England’s ‘BazBall’ at Headingley in Leeds during the first English innings on Day 2. Bowling with the new ball after the opening spells of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, Krishna conceded 32 runs off his first five overs as England opener Ben Duckett and number three Ollie Pope got off to rollicking starts despite the early fall of Zak Crawley.

As one can expect, the 29-year-old was heavily criticized for his expensive opening spell by a legion of Indian cricket fans on social media. While some made hilarious memes at the expense of the cricketer, others blamed the team management for selecting him over uncapped Arshdeep Singh.

“Out Of Form Shami Better Than Prasidh…” Fans Troll Krishna

Prasidh Krishna conceded 32 runs off his first five overs during the first English innings on Saturday, June 21 at Headingley in Leeds. The speedster was flogged around by both well-set England batters, Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope, with the former even racing to his half-century before Tea break.

Krishna’s expensive opening spell prompted several Indian cricket fans to troll the cricketer, as they blamed the team management for selecting a “questionable playing XI”. Some fans even claimed that a half-fit Mohammed Shami would have been a better choice than Krishna.

Notably, Prasidh Krishna recently won the coveted ‘Purple Cap’ this IPL 2025 season, doing so for the Gujarat Titans franchise.
