Ishan Kishan is one of the most talented wicketkeeper batters in India, and has played for India across formats. However, he took a break from cricket in December 2023 and returned directly for IPL 2024. The move did not go well with BCCI though, and he was removed from central contract and BCCI has still not considered him for selection in the senior Indian side.
However, he has now taken a big step towards his international comeback as selectors have named him in the India A squad for two unofficial red-ball games in Australia. He also played Duleep Trophy recently and was also part of the Rest of India squad in the Irani Cup. He is now looking forward to make his comeback into the senior side and ahead of the A-tour, he has opened up on lot of hot issues in an exclusive interview with Times Of India.
Ishan Kishan Talks About His Evolution
He also talked about how he evolved in the last few months and added that his perception about the game has changed after the break. He added that he knows where to stop the banter and fun now and keep the focus on his game, something which he did not do early in his career. He stated that he is spending the best time of his life and the break has taught him a lot in the past year.
"Yes, I have grown up in last few months. The way that I now look at this game....my perception about this game is very different from what I had before. The banter would continue...but now I know where to stop so that it doesn't disturb my game. I am in a more mature headspace now and the break taught me a lot about it. I was spending the most quality time of my life."
Ishan Kishan started off his Test career on a bright note with a fifty in his debut series and has a double-hundred in the ODI format as well. The A-tour in tough Australian conditions would be an important one for the wicketkeeper batter and if he does score runs there, he might just get his place back in the senior national side soon.
