Shreyanka Patil, the young off-spinner who has recently been a regular in the Indian Women's side is suffering from shin splits and that ruled her out of the third ODI against New Zealand Women at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The update has been provided through the official X handle of the BCCI Women as Shreyanka was not named in the XI for the decider of the series.
The off-spinner who is a handy batter as well, could not find a place in the initial two matches of the series as well. However, there is no clarity whether she was injured in those games or was just not selected due to the team combination. Shreyanka Patil recently played for India in the T20 World Cup, but also came into that tournament after recovering from a left-hand injury. So, she has been injury-prone and it remains to be seen how serious her latest injury is.
The ODI series between India and New Zealand is levelled at 1-1 with New Zealand winning the second match comprehensively after getting beaten in the first encounter. The White Ferns have won the toss in the third match, and have brought in Hannah Rowe for Jess Kerr. India, on the other hand, have drafted back Renuka Singh into the XI in place of Arundhati Reddy, and it would be interesting to see which team comes out on top in this big encounter.
