On October 27, Pranav Kumar Pandey, father of Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan, took a significant step by joining Bihar’s ruling party, Janata Dal United (JD(U)). Popularly known as Chunnu, Pandey was welcomed into the party by Sanjay Jha, JD(U)’s national working president and Rajya Sabha MP, in a ceremony held in Patna.
Pranav Pandey is not just known for being Ishan Kishan's father; he’s also a well-respected builder in Bihar. Living in Patna with his family, he operates a medical store as well. During his joining, he expressed his commitment to the party, saying, "I am a soldier of the party and will work dedicatedly to strengthen it." His dedication suggests that he plans to play an active role in the local political landscape.
JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha spoke about Pandey’s decision to join JD(U), highlighting that his faith in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was a major factor.
"Pranav Pandey is joining our party, Janata Dal (United), due to his faith in chief minister Nitish Kumar… This will greatly strengthen our presence, especially in the Magadh region. He is the father of Ishan Kishan, an Indian cricketer and a prominent sports figure from Bihar," Jha said.
With Bihar gearing up for bypolls in four assembly seats—Ramgarh, Tarari, Belaganj, and Imamganj—scheduled for November 13, this news is timely. These seats became vacant after the last Lok Sabha elections, and the results will be announced on November 23.
Ishan Kishan’s Return To The Field
Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan is making headlines for his cricket career as well. Recently, he was named in the 15-member India A squad for the upcoming tour to Australia. This follows his earlier exclusion from the BCCI central contracts and hints at a possible return to the national team.
