Deepti Sharma is one of the leading all-rounders in world cricket and has the potential to win games both with the bat and ball. However, in the third ODI against New Zealand Women, she displayed her insane catching skills by grabbing a stunning catch of Georgia Plimmer in the 19th over of the match.
It is the third and final ODI and a series decider. Sophie Devine won the toss and decided to bat first on a slowish pitch where spinners are getting good assistance. India bowlers though started the game on a bright note and reduced New Zealand to 36 for 3. Georgia Plimmer and Brooke Halliday started building a stand after those hiccups and the former was looking good in the middle.
Priya Mishra Continues To Impress
However, young Priya Mishra bowled a beautiful flighted delivery on the fifth ball of the 19th over. It was a touch short of full-length, but not short enough. Plimmer though waited in her crease as the ball was flighted quite high and then tried to cut it. The ball turned and bounced a bit extra to caught the outside edge of her blade. The ball flew to the right of the first slip fielder and Deepti Sharma sharply moved to her right, grabbed the ball with both hands and gave Priya her second wicket of the match.
The scores of 230-240 have been challenging in this series, and both the matches have been won by the team batting first. So, it would be interesting to see how things pan out in this pressure-cooker of a game.
