In the IPL 2024 mini-auction, Shardul Thakur emerged as the standout acquisition for the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Thakur, who had previously played three successful seasons with CSK, was initially bought by Delhi Capitals(DC) for a hefty sum of Rs 10.50 crore.

However, fate had other plans as Thakur found himself traded to Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR), only to be released by the franchise before the IPL 2024 retention deadline.

Thakur Aims to Recreate Past Glories with CSK

Thakur's journey in the IPL has been nothing short of a rollercoaster. After being released by Kolkata Knight Riders, he was signed by CSK for Rs 4 crore, marking a return to familiar territory. The pacer expressed his gratitude and excitement on Ashwin's YouTube channel, stating,

"CSK backed me a lot. I had tough times, but they always supported me till the end. I was the highest wicket-taker for CSK when we won in 2018 & 2021. I have a feeling that I might repeat that in the coming season."

The seasoned campaigner has indeed left an indelible mark during his previous stints with CSK. In the triumphant 2018 campaign, Thakur showcased his bowling skills by claiming an impressive tally of 16 wickets.

Fast forward to 2021, and he further solidified his reputation with an outstanding performance, finishing the season as the leading wicket-taker for CSK with 21 wickets.

Thakur's impact in previous IPL seasons is undeniable, having played 86 matches and claiming 89 wickets at an impressive average. His best figures of 4/36 showcase his ability to be a vital force in the bowling department.

As Thakur gears up for the upcoming IPL season with CSK, the fans can't help but anticipate another stellar performance from the seasoned campaigner. Under MS Dhoni's captaincy, Thakur is optimistic about recreating past glories for CSK.

The pacer's return to the familiar yellow jersey has injected a renewed sense of excitement and anticipation among the Chennai Super Kings ‘Yellow’ army.
