MS Dhoni is set to expand his IPL profile by turning up for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise in next year’s 2024 edition of the tournament. After teasing his presence for the IPL 2024 season, his availability was confirmed by the franchise itself on IPL 2024 retention day in November 2023.

However, Dhoni’s fitness continues to remain a concern as the 42-year-old recently underwent a surgery for his left knee in Mumbai back in June. Much to the delight of the fans of the cricketer, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has now dropped a huge update regarding his fitness and rehabilitation phase.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan recently stated that MS Dhoni has already started his rehabilitation and is currently in a better place than he was after his surgery. Viswanathan added that the CSK veteran will soon be commencing his nets training session as well, considering he has now started working out in the gym.

While speaking with the reporters in Chennai on the launch of the Junior Super Kings event, he said:

"MS Dhoni is doing well now. He has started his rehab - working in the gym & will start working in the nets in the next 10 days."

As per Viswanathan, the CSK team will be commencing their preparations for IPL 2024 in Chennai during the first week of March.

MS Dhoni, on the other hand, was last seen in action back in the final of the IPL 2023 season, where he led the CSK to a thrilling last-ball win against defending champions Gujarat Titans at a packed Narendra Modi Stadium.

The franchise recently retained a number of their IPL 2023 winning players, including Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube and Dhoni himself. They also acquired fresh faces in the form of Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Mustafizur Rahman and Shardul Thakur at the IPL 2024 auction.
