[Watch] Suryakumar Yadav Gives Injury Update With Hilarious 'Meri Ek Taang Nakli Hai' Dialogue

Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav adds a touch of humour to his recovery journey, acting to a classic 'Welcome' movie dialog as he walks with leg support in a video on Instagram. 

The Mumbai batter sustained an ankle injury while fielding against South Africa in Johannesburg and there could be a suspected tear that could take six weeks to recover.

This unfortunate injury has also ruled him out of the upcoming Afghanistan T20I series. Suryakumar, earlier led India to a T20I series win over Australia, and also played a pivotal role in the tied three-match T20I series against South Africa.

"Surya has reported to NCA for rehab work and the Medical Science team as of now has ruled him injured. He won't be able to play against Afghanistan which starts in three weeks' time,” a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity."

“Since he is unlikely to be selected for Tests, he will possibly play for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy in February to check his fitness before playing in the IPL," he added. 

On Saturday (December 23), Suryakumar shared a funny clip on his Instagram handle while walking with leg support. He shared the video with the caption:

“On a slightly serious note, injuries are never funny, but I will take it in my stride and promise to be back, fully fit, in no time. Till then, hope you all are enjoying the holiday season and finding little joys, everyday.”

In the absence of Suryakumar and Hardik Panya, the selectors may consider Rohit Sharma to lead the side, or they could explore the option of appointing Ravindra Jadeja as the interim captain for a series. However, managing Jadeja's workload becomes crucial as he is set to play all five Tests against England.
