'I Was Wearing Dhoni's Clothes': Suresh Raina Reveals Tale From Thala's Marriage

Suresh Raina unveiled a funny story related to his legendary former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni's wedding and how the middle-order veteran managed to attend it eventually. 

The hilarious tale saw the former India player being completely caught off guard by the news of Dhoni going to tie the knot with his wife Sakshi back in July 2010. 

Busy at the time in Lucknow with training duties after the completion of the 2010 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, Raina raised his eyebrows when he got a phone call from Dhoni from Dehradun and the great wicketkeeper-batter asked his longstanding friend to immediately come to his place for the wedding ceremony. 


How Raina Attended Dhoni's Wedding 

In a viral clip, Raina revealed he got told in no uncertain terms that he must quietly travel to Uttarakhand and no news of Dhoni's wedding should be leaked to the Indian media. 

Raina, who holds his former CSK and India captain in great regard and respect, agreed to the invitation immediately and travelled to the great man's place where in a quiet ceremony, Dhoni wedded with Sakshi. 

Upon reaching there, however, the UP left-hander realised he had forgotten to carry any special clothing for the wedding and eventually attended it wearing Dhoni's clothes. 

"He called me, 'Where are you?', I said I am in Lucknow," Raina said. "He then revealed, 'It's my wedding, come fast but make sure it's silent. Don't tell anyone I am marrying. I am waiting for you'."


"I was in my normal clothes at the time... In his wedding, I was wearing his clothes," he added with a wide grin and laugh. 

Raina was one of the few non-familial guests invited by Dhoni to his wedding as the legend didn't want any media attention or disruption to the big day.
